About GTA 6
A continuously updated record of official announcements and reveal details. Unconfirmed rumors are excluded.
- A 26-minute Netflix showcase premiered August 27, 2026, and is available on Rockstar YouTube and the GTA 6 website.
- All footage was captured in-game on a base PlayStation 5.
- Rob Nelson, Rockstar North co-studio head, completed a playthrough in approximately 80 hours, including the main story and narrative side content.
- The map is approximately 3× the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 and 2× the size of GTA V; Vice City alone is approximately 2× Los Santos.
- Rockstar confirmed there are no microtransactions in single-player.
- Base PS5 runs at 30fps; no performance modes or PS5 Pro details have been announced.
- Jason is a reserved former military drug runner; Lucia is a recently released prisoner and capable fighter.
- Romance between Jason and Lucia is optional. The story can be completed either way, and a stronger romance grants no gameplay bonuses.
- Their romance develops through working out together, shopping, sightseeing, changing appearance, and committing crimes together.
- The Criminal Profile system tracks how crimes are committed: clean heists raise it, while excessive violence lowers it.
- Police remember the player’s appearance, so escaping a wanted level requires changing clothes and/or vehicle.
- A wanted level only triggers when a crime has witnesses; no witnesses means no heat.
- A 3-star or higher wanted level in Vice City is very hard to escape because of narrow streets and traffic.
- A car-theft lock-picking mini-game is confirmed.
- Vehicle trunks hold weapons, clothes, and gear.
- A pet dog can be owned and trained; training affects Criminal Profile and karma.
- Both major and minor story decisions affect future events, encouraging multiple playthroughs.
- Suppression Fire lets players shoot near, rather than at, targets to disorient police and civilians for non-lethal crowd control.
- Confirmed side activities include mini golf, kayaking, scuba diving, gym workouts, parachuting, zoo visits, social media doomscrolling, pool, skydiving, shopping, closed-circuit car racing, and dirt bike racing.
- Vehicles shown include convertibles, muscle cars, Japanese tuners, full-field circuit race cars, and dirt bikes.
- Characters can eat, exercise, and change physically based on their activities.
- Apartment interiors, rooftop bars, and underground clubs were shown in detail.
- Rockstar teams spent years in Miami interviewing ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, and gun dealers.
